Construction Worker Dies After Falling From Brighton Beach Building

A 50-year-old construction worker died after falling from a Neptune Avenue construction site in Brighton Beach.

The worker, Vidal Sanchez-Roman of Coney Island, plummeted from the sixth floor of 360 Neptune Avenue at approximately 11:15am yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The New York Post reports that it’s believed to be an accident. The worker was doing cement work at the time.

The outlet adds that the building’s owner, Neptune Group LLC, was issued a safety violation by the DOB last month. The DOB has also received complaints about the construction site for work outside of permitted hours, work contrary to plans, and for operation of a crane without a permit.

The fall is still being investigated.

The construction site, between Brighton 1st Street and Brighton 2nd Place, is slated to be a six-story commercial building, with parking for 61 cars on the first and second floors, retails stores on the ground level, a day care on the third floor and medical offices on the remaining three floors, according to DOB documents. It was purchased in 2012 for nearly $2 million.
