As you stroll down Cortelyou Road, between Argyle and Westminster, take a minute to appreciate the greenery around you – the lush block, and the Cortelyou Road Merchants Association, just landed second place in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden 2014 Greenest Block in Brooklyn’s commercial category.

The Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest promotes streetscape, gardening, tree stewardship, and community development throughout Brooklyn. The project is supported by

GreenBridge, the community environmental horticulture program of Brooklyn Botanic Garden, as well as Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

Also, congratulations to neighbor and gardener extraordinaire Tracy Hohman, who designed and planted almost all of the planters on that block.

You can see a full list of the winners – as well as photos of all the great greenery in our borough – here.
