Way to go, Bonnies!

The Bonnie Youth Club’s Braves, Paws and Robins teams have earned themselves spots in the coveted AABC World Series tournaments — but in order to attend, our neighborhood players and sports organization need some help.

Fundraising websites have been set up to help the Braves (players 10 years old and under) get to Rockford, Illinois; the Paws (players 14 and under) get to Knoxville, Tennessee; and the Robins (players 12 and under) get to Branson, Missouri for their world series championships. The funds raised will help pay for tournament fees, room and board, plane tickets for the players, and more.

If you decide to lend a hand, you’ll be supporting boys who live in our community and are students in our neighborhood schools — as well backing an incredible organization that has, for more than 60 years, provided sports opportunities for boys throughout our community.

As the Bonnies explain on their website, the club, which has its headquarters at 1221 Church Avenue, “is dedicated to developing youth, most of whom are from minority and economically disadvantaged backgrounds” and uses “baseball as a means of communicating to those who might not otherwise be engaged.”

To learn more about donating, you can go here to help the Braves, here to lend a hand to the Paws, and here to support the Robins.

A huge congratulations to all the Bonnies — you’ve made your neighborhood incredibly proud!
