Coney Island’s Wonder Wheel Will Be Open New Year’s Day For The First Time Ever
You can take in New Year’s Day from the soaring heights of Deno’s Wonder Wheel in Coney Island.
For the first time in its 95-year history, the iconic beachside attraction will be open on January 1, am New York reports. The ride will provide a perfect view of the intrepid swimmers readying themselves to a plunge into the freezing Atlantic Ocean for the annual Polar Bear Club swim.
For safety reasons, the Wonder Wheel would have to close if the weather becomes to extreme, the owner told am New York. High winds, snow, or freezing temperatures that could ice the ride and make it too risky for operation, the owner said.
The famous swinging cars will also not be used during on New Year’s Day.
However, if the skies are clear, riders will have sightline to the Manhattan skyline as they are carried around the ferris wheel.
