A 27-year old man is still in critical condition after being pulled to shore in Coney Island Wednesday evening, according to spokesperson for Coney Island Hospital, where the man is being treated.

Rescue workers responded to a call at 4:39pm about a drowning victim in the water near West 15th Street and the boardwalk, according to the FDNY. When they arrived, lifeguards had already pulled the man to shore and emergency responders administered CPR, News 12 Brooklyn reports.

The fire department said the man’s condition was “likely to die” when he was taken to Coney Island Hospital.
