is holding a community meeting at Homecrest Playground  on August 9th at 7:30pm to discuss the issues affecting local parks. Deutsch will be joined by Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey, NYPD Brooklyn South Chief Steven Powers, NYPD 61st Precinct Captain Winston Faison, as well as the NYPD Brooklyn South Narcotics Division Inspector George Fitzgibbon.

Fitzgibbon will be in attendance because of the Councilman’s office receiving complaints about teenagers selling drugs in local parks late at night, according to Tova Chatv, a representative from his office. The meeting will give the community a venue to share its concerns with local officials.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 9th at 7:30 pm at Homecrest Playground.

Correction [August 9]: It was previously stated that the meeting was prompted by complaints of narcotics sales in parks, but the meeting is based off of a myriad of other issues. The narcotics complaints are the reason Fitzgibbon was asked to attend. Changes have been made to clarify this.
