Compost for Brooklyn invites all neighbors, adults and children, to stop in and visit their urban garden and compost site at Newkirk and East 8th Street for live music, refreshments, and more this Sunday, June 29, from 2pm to 5pm.

Join them for a walk around the garden for a look at the native plants, herbs, and flowers – and even a step-by-step tour of the composting process. There will be a number of fun garden games for children.

There will also be live music by Baharat, a Brooklyn-based group that plays tunes influenced by Middle to Far Eastern cultures. Give Baharat – the Arabic word for spices – a listen here.

And there will be lots of lovely refreshments, including lavender lemonade and mint iced tea made from herbs from the garden.
