7:00 pm Town Hall Meeting at Roosevelt High School, with Mayor Bill de Blasio, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, NYC Councilmember David Greenfield and NY State Assemblymember Dov Hikind. Where: 5800 20th Avenue, Brooklyn (between 58th and 59th Streets)7:30 pm – 70th Precinct NCO’s in District C invite residents to meet them at Dorchester Senior Citizen Center.
WEDNESDAY: May 17
- 5:30 p.m. – Art Fair at P.S. 249 (18 Marlborough Road) in the school gymnasium. There will be loads of art on display, hands-on art making stations, a live music performance by our student violinists, refreshments, and a scavenger hunt for prizes. The event is open to the students, their families, and the whole community and is totally free of charge. We’d love to have our neighbors join us in celebrating the student artists at P.S. 249!
- 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m – Red Hook Public Art Project Community Meeting. Come review and vote to select artists who will be asked to create proposals! Where: Red Hook Library, 7 Wolcott Street, Brooklyn NY
THURSDAY: May 18
- 6:00 p.m. – Times Plaza Design and Proposal for Safety Improvements at Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues. NYC Department of Transportation will present the Times Plaza Design and Proposal for Safety Improvements at Flatbush Avenue and Atlantic Avenue to the Brooklyn Community Board 2. Hear about the new project and provide feedback. Where: YWCA, 30 Third Ave (Second floor Gallery) Brooklyn, NY.
- 6:30 pm – Transportation/Public Safety Committee Meeting
Presentation and discussion with representatives for the Police Department on the Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCO) new community policing model recently implemented at the 76th Precinct. Where: NYPD-76th Precinct, 191 Union Street (between Henry/Hicks Streets) Brooklyn, NY 11231 - 7:30 p.m – Madison-Marine-Homecrest Civic Association meeting. Capt. James King, new commanding officer of the 61st Pct., and Ms. Teresa Cunningham, Brooklyn Community Liaison for the Sanitation Dept., are among scheduled speakers. Where: at the Carmine Carro Community Center, in Marine Park (3000 Fillmore Ave./ at Madison Pl.).

- THE BROOKLYN HALF MARATHON
7:00 AM – Brooklyn will be the course for thousands of runners for the half marathon that runs from Prospect Park to Coney Island.
