Community Board 10 Elects Doris Cruz As New Chairperson

Community Board 10 (CB 10) has elected a longtime neighborhood activist as its new chairperson.

Doris Cruz will be the new leader of the board that serves Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. She is known in the area as an advocate who has organized block associations and implored city agencies to install safety features on her neighborhood’s streets.

As first reported by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle:

Cruz, who was nominated by the board’s Nominating Committee, was quickly elected by her colleagues. No one else was nominated. She will assume her post on July 1. She succeeds Brian Kieran, who served as chairperson for three terms.
Prior to her election, Cruz served as the community board’s vice chairperson. In the past, she has assumed many roles on the community board, including chairperson of the Traffic and Transportation Committee.

For more than two decades, Cruz has served her neighborhood in Community Board 10.
