Come Rally In Support Of Day Care And Senior Center At 966 Fulton Street
Today at 4:45pm, come join your neighbors outside 966 Fulton Street to show support for the Grace Agard Harewood Senior Center and the Young Minds Day Care — both programs of the Fort Greene Council — whose fates remain uncertain as the city has yet to approve the renewal of the Council’s lease at the space.
At issue is the landlord’s desire to sign a lease for 10 years, while the city would rather the lease be for a shorter period.
That leaves young families and older adults anxious and in limbo, calling on local elected officials and community organizations to rally for a swift and sustainable resolution.
Pretty much every local official — Assemblymember Walter Mosley, Councilmember Laurie Cumbo, and even Public Advocate Letitia James — have expressed their support. Community Board 2 also just voted unanimously at last night’s general meeting to support the Fort Greene Council’s desire for a lease renewal.
See you at 4:45pm!
