Ask folks who has the best coffee in the neighborhood, and you’ll get a taste of just how passionately people feel about their favorite cup.

For me, convenience plays a big part in the morning, and I had taken to getting an occasional cup from Salahi on the corner of Cortelyou and Argyle. When I walked in yesterday, Mo asked – regular or arabica? Arabica! Mo had brought in back from a recent trip back home, and clearly took delight in being able to offer a treat. And a treat it was – what I got for $1 was a cup of really, really good coffee – it was strong and had a smooth, clean taste (I had it black). In fact I stopped in for more today. A large cup is $1.75.
