Clinton Hill Man To Serve 75 Years To Life For Kidnap, Torture, And Rape Of Ex-Girlfriend
It’s about as close to “lock him up and throw away the key” as we can get.
Clinton Hill resident Alex Anselmo, 31, of 71 Greene Avenue, was convicted two weeks ago on 17 counts of “first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated criminal contempt and related counts.”
Now he will serve 75 years to life in prison.
Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson has described Anselmo as “a monster” who is “totally unfit to remain in society,” and that he hopes the “long prison sentence will bring some solace to the victim and her daughter for all the trauma they have suffered.”
According to trial testimony, the ordeal started when the 31-year-old victim broke up with Anselmo, who “became increasingly obsessive” and, upon learning via Facebook that she was planning to move to Florida with her new boyfriend, began contacting her “in violation of an order of protection” issued after he had assaulted her in 2012.
Then, on April 1, 2013, he forced his way into her Bed-Stuy apartment, punched her, handcuffed her to the bed, and raped, sodomized, and tortured her with a knife, dumbbell, extension cord, and gun for three days. Their two-year-old daughter was forced to stay in the apartment throughout the ordeal.
