City Paints Newkirk Avenue Orange

A crew from the city was out this morning finishing up a painting project along Newkirk Avenue. The barriers of the subway overpass have been blue for some time, with patches of repainting being done by teams of volunteers, most recently during the annual neighborhood clean-up in June. Neighbors that are Knicks or Mets fans will note that orange and blue combination above appeals to some New York sports colors — an intentional artistic choice no doubt.

While it will be nice to have the barriers one uniform color (for now), we hope they’ll also be repainting the corrugated metal wall at the sidewalk, which is the thing that could really use a touch-up. The wall was placed on Community Board 14’s budget priorities just this week.

We wonder if they’ll also be repainting the barriers on the Foster end?
