Citroën Signs Painted Over On 3rd Avenue
And just like that, another old sign in the area bites the dust. The faded Citroën signs on the French auto maker’s former warehouse on 3rd Avenue at 7th Street have been completely painted over.
The company withdrew from the U.S. in 1974, and the space is currently used by International Furniture, which according to DNAinfo, had to cover the signs because they needed to shore up the building for structural issues.
With this, some old neon, Eagle Clothes, and the Who’s Your Uncle mural, this summer has been a busy one for updates in the area. It’s a good reminder to get out there and take pics of any signs of the past before they disappear.
