Citibank To Replace Berta’s In Brighton Beach

A couple of tipsters (local broker and Allan Rosen) let us know last week that Citibank is moving into Brighton Beach Avenue. It will replace Berta Department Store at 712 Brighton Beach Avenue.

Thank goodness, too. That area really needs a bank!

Oh, nevermind the two Chase Banks on that very same corner…

Rosen fears that this could mean the end of Citibank on Sheepshead Bay Road, which currently sits on a development site. We’re not so sure, as I think those are two different markets, relatively far apart, and Citibank has more to gain with a continued presence on Sheepshead Bay Road. What do you think?
