Citi Bike Celebrates 5th Anniversary This Sunday At Prospect Park

PROSPECT PARK – Boasting approximately 70,000 daily riders and 12,000 bicycles spread across more than 750 stations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, popular bike-share program Citi Bike will mark its five-year anniversary this Sunday with a day-long celebration at Prospect Park.

Along with cake, a group Citi Bike ride, giveaways, photo booths, and discounts on membership, the event will also feature an award ceremony to honor the program’s two all-time top riders. There will also be a pop-up Citi Bike museum showcasing prototypes, parts, and photos of installations and celebrities riding the blue bikes.

The festivities kick off at 10am at the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park where Citi Bike heads, elected officials, and community leaders, will speak and present awards to “all-star” Citi Bike members.

A group Citi Bike ride through Prospect Park will take off at 10:45am from the Grand Army Plaza entrance followed by a celebration starting at 11am at the entrance to Smorgasborg (corner of East Drive & Well House Drive) featuring the pop-up exhibition, photos, a prize wheel, membership tent, and other activities throughout the day.

To coincide with its five-year milestone, Citi Bike is also launching the #WhyIRidein5 campaign, encouraging members to share five Citi Bike stories, photos, or emojis on social media over the next month.
