Checkers To Open As Early As Next Week On Church Avenue

Neighbor Stacey tipped us off that a Checkers was headed to Church Avenue and E 18th Street, so we stopped by this morning to learn more. The burger and fries spot will be taking over 1801 Church, which was Rekoda Grocery until December 2012 and has been vacant since.

Workers at the location said the store will be open next week, but judging by the bare bones construction inside, we’re betting it will take a little longer than that.

Up to this point, the closest Checkers has been at 2115 Nostrand Avenue (between Glenwood Road and E 31st Street) near Brooklyn College. So, are you excited for seasoned fries close to home, or abhorred at another chain coming to Ditmas Park?
