Dying to do the monster mash this Halloween, but not sure where to go? From a pipsqueak parade to “big kid” costumed shenanigans, there are Halloween happenings for everyone in South Slope beginning on Saturday:

Freddy’s Halloween Costume Party

Costume contest, prizes and live music from Telehaze, Black River Quartet, Erika Dagnino Quintet and Bop Monroe & Pocket Monster.

The Monro Pub’s 1st Annual Halloween Party

Halloween at Green-Wood
Green-Wood Cemetery
Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28, 1pm
Cost: $15 for Green-Wood Historic Fund members and $20 for non-members; reservations recommented
Green-Wood historian Jeff Richman leads visitors on a haunting tour through Green-Wood Cemetery and its catacombs. Final resting place stops include everyone from the founders of Spiritualism to George Washington’s favorite dentist.

Costumed “kids” ages 3 and up can come in throughout the day to show off their costumes. The snazziest and most creative will receive finalist tickets to return at 6pm for judging within the various age categories (3-7, 8-12, 13-20 and 21+).

The 2012 Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade
Starting point: 14th Street and 7th Avenue

A Halloween tradition since 1986, expect volunteers handing out candy, giant puppets, and hundreds of children (and parents) in costume.

Halloween Vinyl Party

The Vinyl Club returns to Owl Farm to rock out this Halloween night. In addition to beer specials, a costume will get you a dollar off anything and, if you can work it, two costumes will get you two dollars off!

Horror Themed Halloween Party

Rock out with First Jason Official, hang with DJ Retch (Raphael Hunter) Reyes, some gogo girls and enjoy drink specials all night long.

Day of the Dead Party

Although not exactly Halloween, it’s close enough. Dia de los Muertos party benefiting Green-Wood Cemetery. Costume contest with $850 in cash prizes, Mexican food, drink specials, DJ Freaky Felgzzz and other special guests expected.

Also, be sure to get out early for trick or treating. Routes along 5th and 7th Avenues generally start getting crazy around 4pm.
