Check Out Music, Film & Theater For Kids This Fall At BAM

Good news for parents who love the programming at BAM–BAMKids has a series of events coming up for children ages 1-13 to enjoy. Here’s what’s on this month’s calendar:

  • Saturday, October 5: Shine and the Moonbeams play their unique brand of R&B for kids ages 2-7, capturing “the sweetness, uncertainty, and simplicity of youth.” 2pm at BAMCafe (30 Lafayette Avenue between Saint Felix Street and Ashland Place). Buy tickets here.
  • Saturday, October 26: Laurie O’Brien offers a Shadow Puppet Workshop in which kids 7-13 can learn about the history of shadow puppets, participate in a multimedia performance, and make their own puppets to take home. 10am and 1pm at the BAM Fisher Hillman Studio (321 Ashland Place between Hanson Place and Lafayette Avenue).   • Saturday, October 26: Kids Shorts is on and featuring all sorts of short, puppet-related entertainment for kids 3+. 11am at BAM Rose Cinemas (30 Lafayette Avenue between Saint Felix Street and Ashland Place). Buy tickets here.
  • Sunday, October 27: Another shadow puppet-focused event, Chinese Theatre Works: Tiger Tales, is a play in which a wise old rabbit tells her young granddaughter stories (for kids 7 and up). 11am and 2pm at the BAM Fisher Hillman Studio (321 Ashland Place between Hanson Place and Lafayette Avenue).   • Thursday, October 31: The 12th Annual BAMboo! Halloween Block Party will feature live music, ancient Egypt-themed games, a stilt walker, an obstacle course, crafts, costume contests, and of course, lots of candy. 4pm at the Peter Jay Sharp Building (30 Lafayette Avenue between Saint Felix Street and Ashland Place). Free admission.
