Several bars and restaurants in our area are celebrating Cinco de Mayo — which marks Mexico’s triumph over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Our very own Cinco de Mayo Restaurant (1202 Cortelyou Road) is offering margaritas, micheladas, and sangrias for $5 today, along with a free tequila shot for each customer (one per customer). They would love to celebrate with the neighborhood…and visitors as well!

(Promotions at Cinco de Mayo are only valid for in-house guests, not take-out orders.)

Los Mariachis Mexican Restaurant, at 805 Coney Island Avenue (between Cortelyou and Dorchester Roads), has live music from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, along with margaritas.

Highbury Pub, at the corner of Coney Island Avenue and Cortleyou Road, is offering hibiscus margaritas tonight, along with a happy hour 2 for 1 tequila shot special.

Bar Chord, at 1008 Cortelyou Road, will be serving tacos (carnitas, venduras and pescados) from Brooklyn Boy Catering, along with pineapple-infused mezcal mojitos and tire tree micheladas (a spicy beer-based cocktail with tomato and lime, on ice). Drink and food specials all night. Live music starts at 9:30.

La Loba Cantina, on Church Avenue and East 7th Street, will have $8 margaritas, $6 micheladas, and a special jalapeño margarita on offer.

The Church Cafe Wine Bar, on Church Avenue, between East 4th and 5th Streets, is celebrating with happy hour margaritas all night for $8, along with tamales and sandwiches.
