This Sunday, May 10, bring your mom, your friends, your neighbors — bring anyone you want! — and head over to the Cortelyou Greenmarket for a celebration of Zakafest, a Haitian festival of agriculture and springtime.

The greenmarket, located on Cortelyou Road between Argyle and Rugby Roads, will be hosting numerous free activities throughout the day in honor of Zakafest.

Here’s the full roster of festivities:

  • .12-12:30pm: Plant raffle and creative plant-centered family activities.
  • 12-12:30pm: Drumming workshop/performance with the Haitian Roots music-makers of Samba Zao.
  • 12:30-1pm: Neighborhood fame awarded to whoever brings or creates the most unique plant holder.
  • 1pm-close: Live performance by Brooklyn’s rara band DjaRARA.

The year-round Cortelyou Greenmarket operates every Sunday from 9am-3pm. For more information about the market, visit its website.
