The Flatbush Development Corporation and Chabad of Ditmas Park are hosting a Grand Menorah Lighting for the final night of Chanukah, at the new public menorah in Newkirk Plaza, right outside the subway station.

For many years, the Newkirk Plaza Merchants Association has provided seasonal specials and promotions during the holidays, but this year, under the leadership of Almac Hardware’s Javier Saez and Newkirk Station Liquors Lucy Fang, the Newkirk Plaza Merchants has decided to step up their game.

“We want to lift the spirits of the people in our community. It was important to us to incorporate as many faiths as possible, which is why you see Christmas decorations and a 12-foot-tall menorah for Chanukah. This is a great time of year to bring our community together for something positive,”  said Javier Saez in a statement.

Come out this Sunday, December 13 from 2-4:30pm as the FDC, the Newkirk Plaza Merchants Association, and the Chabad of Ditmas Park celebrate the final night of Chanukah with music, refreshments, a balloon artist, face painting and a brief discussion on the history and importance of Chanukah by Chabad of Ditmas Park’s Rabbi Levin. There will be something for every member of the family, assures Rabbi Levin.

This event will also be a drop off location for FDC’s end of year canned food drive.
