Celebrate The Dram Shop’s Anniversary By Taking Down A Burger, A Shot & A Beer In Record Time
Think you’ve got the guts to eat a double cheeseburger and drink a shot and a beer in under one minute and 13 seconds? Then get to The Dram Shop as it celebrate its seventh anniversary with this gluttonous annual contest!
The bar, located at 339 9th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, is bringing back its “One Beer, One Burger, One Bourbon” challenge in honor of its anniversary weekend. Stop by from Friday, January 23 through Sunday, January 25 and step up to the plate for the chance to win your meal, a t-shirt, and all the belly-busting glory associated with the accomplishment.
If you finish a Dram Shop Classic double patty cheeseburger, one draft beer of your choice, and one shot of either Old Overholt whiskey or El Jimador tequila in less time than last year’s record of 1:13, the food and drinks are free, and you get a t-shirt. Finish in under three minutes, you’ll get the shirt, but you’ll owe $18 for the food and drinks. If you take more than three minutes to chow down, you’ll owe the $18 and get nothing but shame (and a super delicious burger and booze!).
But wait, you’re thinking you’ll skip the challenge because you hate mustard? Not to fear! Competitors are allowed one substitution, which automatically doubles the amount of another item — so if you skip the mustard, you get twice the cheese (see the full conversion chart here).
