Celebrate Earth Day With A Free Composting Workshop At Windsor Terrace Library
Windsor Terrace Library

This Wednesday, April 22, from 6-7:30pm, everyone is invited to celebrate Earth Day at the Windsor Terrace Library (160 E. 5th Street at Fort Hamilton Parkway), where Vandra Thorburn will be offering a free bokashi composting workshop.

During the demonstration, Vandra, the founder and president of the composting service Vokashi, will demonstrate how bokashi works. Bokashi — which, in Japanese, means “fermented organic matter,” — is a composting process that entails using a sealed bucket to break down kitchen waste. Unlike traditional composting methods, meat, fish, cheese and cooked food waste can be composted through the bokashi process — which Vandra also points out is ideal for apartment dwellers who need something small and not smelly to compost.

Adults and families are welcome to attend the event, and registration is recommended.
