CBS This Morning Interview Gives Boost To Project Amelia

In case you missed it earlier today, South Slope neighbor Amelia Coffaro shared her inspiring story with CBS This Morning. The 28-year-old freelance photographer was diagnosed with stage-3 inflammatory breast cancer in February of 2013. She has no insurance. Friends and neighbors immediately rallied in support and formed Project Amelia, a Give Forward project dedicated to raising money for her treatment.

As of Thursday evening, Project Amelia had raised $48,347. Following the CBS interview on Friday, that total jumped to $51,575.

When asked what this generosity of strangers says about the human spirit, Amelia said, “it’s totally indestructible. It’s totally here in full force. It gives me hope.”
