Cast Your Vote For The Cortelyou Library’s Bike The Branches Display
Now’s your chance to show some love for our neighborhood’s Cortelyou Library!
Our community’s literary mecca has been named of the 10 finalists for the Bike the Branches book display contest, and if they win the library will get a “special prize” that has yet to be announced. Last year, the Brooklyn Public Library gave the winner a pizza party for the entire staff.
On the Bike the Branches display contest website, Cortelyou Library describes their lauded display:
Our Bike the Branches display was created to mimic the outside of the Cortelyou branch, right down to our brick walls and distinguished triangles (in all different colors). Curious George is coming through our doors on a bicycle and carrying a bag of books. We displayed both non-fiction and fiction books for all ages about bicycles and Brooklyn. All of our staff, including our librarians, office aids, part timers and custodian, pitched in to create this beautiful book display.
Other branches that are in the top 10 include: Bay Ridge, Clarendon, DeKalb, Kensington, Kings Highway, Park Slope, Ryder, Stone Avenue, and Windsor Terrace.
The third annual Bike the Branches is a one-day ride on May 9 that lets you discover parts of Brooklyn you may not have seen before while supporting the Brooklyn Public Library. For more information about the event, including how to register, you can go here.
Congratulations to Cortelyou Library and all the nominees!
