Career Help, ‘The Alchemist’ Book Discussion & More Upcoming Events At The Windsor Terrace Library
Windsor Terrace Library

The Windsor Terrace Library (160 E. 5th Street) has a number of upcoming events that we thought would interest our readers, including resumé and career help and a book discussion on The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Every Wednesday, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, the library offers one-on-one assistance with resumés, job searches, and online career resources. The help is free, and individuals are served on a first-come, first-served basis.

For the bookworms out there, the library offers a book discussion each month. This month, there will be a discussion on The Alchemist on Thursday, October 30, from 2pm to 3:30pm. No registration is necessary.

“Whether or not you thinking reading The Alchemist is a life-changing experience, come and share your opinion!” the library said on a flyer for patrons.

“Combining magic, mysticism, wisdom and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery, The Alchemist has become a modern classic, selling millions of copies around the world and transforming the lives of countless readers across generations,” the library goes on to say.

“Paulo Coelho’s masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure,” the library says. “His quest will lead him to riches far different – and far more satisfying – than he ever imagined. Santiago’s journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path, and most importantly, to follow our dreams.”

Additionally, the Windsor Terrace library has let patrons know about the Brooklyn Public Library’s veterans history project, which “records the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and understand the realities of war.”

To schedule an appointment to tell your story, you can call the Brooklyn Public Library at (718) 230-2745 or email r.weinstein@brooklynpubliclibrary.org.
