Yet another manhole explosion rocked Park Slope, setting at least one car on fire and causing several homes to be evacuated in the early morning hours.

The FDNY tells us they responded to a call at about 4:18am on Tuesday on 6th Street just off 6th Avenue, where they say at least one vehicle caught fire after a manhole exploded. They say they had to evacuate six buildings due to high carbon monoxide readings in the area, but were unable to say the number of people affected. Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries.

Neighbor Lynn Harris was on the scene this morning, and tweeted:

News 12 has some dramatic video of the car fire, which they say spread to another vehicle.

This is the third manhole explosion to occur in the area in a week. The first occurred in the afternoon last Tuesday on 9th Street near 5th Avenue, causing businesses to close briefly because of smoke; the second occurred yesterday on Prospect Park West near 4th Street, sending one man to the hospital and shattering windows in buildings on the block.
