Capturing Moments: Neighbor & Photographer Antonio M. Rosario Featured On Brooklyn Independent Media
Antonio M. Rosario, a Ditmas Park neighbor who frequently comes to Kensington for his incredible street photography, was just featured on Brooklyn Independent Media, and we’ve loved watching the video that delves into Antonio’s passion for the art of candid photos.
The video, which aired last week, follows Antonio as he navigates a space he frequently goes to for his photos — Cortelyou Road (you can also often spot him on Church Avenue, McDonald Avenue, and Ocean Parkway, just to name a few).
There, Antonio will look for subjects he’s never photographed before to capture life’s fleeting moments.
“Part of me wants to capture somebody in their natural state — that comes from living in New York and not really wanting to go up and bother people too much, or get punched in the face,” Antonio tells Brooklyn Independent Media, laughing.
As for why our neighbor loves spending countless hours on the street?
“It’s this idea of capturing a moment in time that is the present, at that moment, is very attractive to me,” he says in the video. “.. Photography locks a moment in time pretty much forever.
“I’m attracted to that,” he continues. “I’m attracted to this saving of time and saving of a moment, because that’s all we have; we just have moments.”
