Candlelight Vigil for Fatima Gordon Tonight

Candlelight Vigil for Fatima Gordon Tonight

A community candlelight vigil for Fatima Gordon, the 28-year-old mother who was killed in a shooting on Clarkson Avenue last week–the block on which she lived–will take place tonight. From neighbor Barbara Rogers:

Please note that a candlelight vigil/community walk will be held in PLG today, Tuesday, September 4, to support the family of Fatima Gordon, shot and killed on Thursday evening. We will meet at 7pm in front of 80 Clarkson, and then walk through the neighborhood. It’s important that as many people as possible turn out to show both the criminals AND the police that we will no longer stand for this senseless violence in our midst.

An more recent story by the Times notes that the police haven’t said if they have any suspects yet in the case. They also point out that Fatima’s 29th birthday would have been today. Our thoughts go out to her family, friends, and neighbors.

The NYPD is offered a $12,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction for the person(s) responsible for her murder. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, give a tip at their Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are kept confidential.
