Candlelight Vigil Against Family Violence Tonight in McCarren Park

GREENPOINT – The North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence is holding a vigil tonight to raise awareness of domestic violence.

The event will begin at 5:30, with participants meeting at the NYPD 94th Precinct at 100 Meserole, then marching down Manhattan Ave to McCarren Park. Once at the park, there will be a candlelight vigil featuring community leaders as well as survivors of domestic violence.

It is the second of three vigils: the first was held in Bushwick last week and the final vigil will be next Tuesday, October 17 in Williamsburg.

The North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence has been working to assist survivors of domestic violence since 1998. Operating in Bushwick, Greenpoint and Williamsburg, the group provides counseling and crisis intervention for victims, and assists them in accessing services related to shelter, education and legal assistance.
