Golden Ahead In Fundraising To Fight For His Senate Seat
BAY RIDGE – Democrats Andrew Gounardes and Ross Barkan are running against Senator Marty Golden in District 22 this year, and have just released their fundraising numbers. District 22 includes Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, and Gravesend, parts of Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park, and Midwood.
Ross Barkan’ filings with the Board of Elections list his campaign with a closing balance of $53,292.11, of which $50,500.15 came from contributions during the filing period.
“Since we first launched, we’ve run a grassroots campaign focused foremost on voter contact within the 22nd Senate District and have made gains in reaching a large number of both voters and donors,” Barkan told BKLYNER.
“We look forward to reporting a high volume of contributions – particularly from our small-dollar supporters – through a growing coalition of progressives across NYC and beyond who want a truly Democratic NYS Senate in 2018.”
Andrew Gounardes says that his campaign has raised $114k, with $104,273 cash on hand in the first fundraising period of the 2018 election cycle. The money came from 636 individual donors, with 56 percent of donations being less than $50 and 42.5 percent being less than $25. His campaign’s contributions were not updated on the Board of Elections site as of 11 am this morning.
“With more than half of our donations coming from small-dollar donors, this is truly a people-powered campaign to fight for fully funded schools, safe streets, and to fix our broken transit system,” Gounardes said.
“Our supporters are real people, not special interests, because New Yorkers of all stripes are fed up with a state government that doesn’t represent them and they demand open, honest, and accountable leadership from Albany.”
The incumbent Golden also filed his reports on time and has tons of money in his campaign. According to the Board of Elections 2018 January Periodic Report, Golden’s campaign has a closing balance of $548,983.39, reporting $339,297.36 in contributions for the filing period.
