Refoundry, a non-profit based in the Navy Yard that helps integrate the formerly incarcertated, is looking for volunteers for a pair of events next week.

The Refoundry moved from Gowanus into its current space at the Navy Yard back in March, and it’s asking for a hand this Wednesday, May 4, from 10am to 4pm, reorganizing its workspace and painting for its Hand-to-Hand craft event on Saturday, May 7 at the Brooklyn Flea from 10am-5pm.

“Commerce is a really powerful interaction, and it doesn’t get much more basic than that, than finding value and worth in what you do,”  said Nicole Whelan, special assistant to the Executive Director of the Refoundry.

Wednesday’s volunteers are to lift and move some moderately heavy (over 20 pounds) materials and equipment or help with tidying the workspace.

For Saturday, the Refoundry is hoping for at least four to six people who can help run a handprinting craft activity at the Brooklyn Flea in shifts of two to three hours.
