Get ready to rock! Registration for Make Music New York, the free one-day outdoor festival that gives artists an opportunity to take their music to the streets, sidewalks, parks, gardens, and other public spaces throughout the city, is open through Wednesday, April 29.

The ninth annual event will take place on  Sunday, June 21, from 10am-10pm, when musicians of all ages and musical persuasions — from hip hop to opera, Latin jazz to punk rock — will perform during the event that features more than 1,000 concerts and is open to anyone who wants to take part.

This year, organizers are hoping to bring more of the music extravaganza to our neighborhood. Theo Boguszewski, of Make Music New York, let us know organizers are “looking to expand the celebration this year to include more of the great local musicians and public spaces in Kensington.”

To enroll in the free program, you’ll need to register by going here by Wednesday, April 29. Once you register, Make Music New York will coordinate your concert with others in the neighborhood, secure all necessary permits and promote your event through various media in the city.

For more information, you can visit Make Music New York’s website, and if you have any questions, email help@makemusicny.org.
