For all those who’ve been wishing you could wash down the chips and guacamole at Calexico with a margarita since they opened on 5th Avenue in February, sad to discover they still didn’t have a liquor license, raise a glass because the wait is over! The Mexican restaurant just got the proper paperwork, and they’re celebrating this weekend with deals on drinks.

Starting this weekend, the spot at 278 5th Ave, between 1st and Garfield, will now offer margaritas — including frozen, blood orange, and jalapeño mint — cocktails like the “Tequila Mockingbird” (basil-infused tequila, watermelon, jalapeño, agave, lime juice), spicy Micheladas, beer, tequila, and wine.

This Friday, October 17 through Sunday, October 19, they’ll celebrate the new liquor license with two-for-one margaritas and beer specials, and you can feel good about getting a little tipsy — 10% of the weekend’s proceeds will benefit the Prospect Park Alliance.
