Burglar Sneaks Through Window To Snag Jewelry & Cash, Cops Say
Cops are after a man who snuck through an open window last week and snapped up valuables from a Shore Parkway apartment.
Police say the brazen criminal climbed into the apartment during the the middle of the afternoon on January 28. He grabbed several rings and an undetermined amount of money and then escaped to the snow-covered streets, according to police.
The Sheepshead Bay station house has issued warnings in the past advising residents to make sure their windows and doors are locked to keep out criminals looking for “opportunity crimes.” However, the number of burglaries committed in the precinct fell last year by 5.6 percent compared to the previous year, according to NYPD crime statistics.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
