As of April 4, neighbors Misty Lynn McCauley and Andy Belle’s small business-friendly Brooklyn Pop-Up Market will be back home in Clinton Hill — in Trilok Fusion Arts Center’s garden — just in time for spring and a few months ahead of their one-year anniversary this June.

“It’s a great location and a great dynamic and we’re really excited to be back,” said McCauley, who noted that visitors to previous pop-up market weekends can look forward to “highly curated themed events” every weekend, as DNAinfo also previously reported.

For example, this past weekend (at its winter space in Bushwick) saw a women’s empowerment theme for International Women’s Day, with some of the local vendors giving a portion of proceeds to women’s organizations.

This summer, the market will celebrate Easter Weekend (April 4-5), a Garlic Festival (April 18-19) for National Garlic Day, National Pretzel Day weekend (April 25-26), National Ice Cream Sandwich Day weekend (August 1-2), and other similar themed holidays.

“We hope that’ll draw a lot of people to something that’s different and more specialized than just a regular market,” explained McCauley, who also notes that there will be even more vendors than last summer as their vendor list has grown through good word-of-mouth.

The Brooklyn Pop-Up Market already stands out as a start-up-friendly, neighborhood-friendly market and movement.

McCauley, herself a start-up founder of Chia Chicks, which makes organic, vegan, gluten-free chia cookies, explained that “our rates are really low because our whole mission is to be a place for the really small guy, new start-up that still has its training wheels on, so to speak.

“So we cater to the folks who may have never even done a market before, help them with social media and getting their brand out there,” she said. “I think that people recognize that and that we’re for the next big thing.”

On entering their second season, McCauley said she and college friend Belle find it “exciting and sort of shocking as well because the first couple of months we operated was [full of days] wondering ‘What did we do?!’ But we stuck it out and people stuck by us because they knew our mission was genuine. And lo and behold here we are going into another season in two locations!”
