Fort Greene’s Brooklyn Hospital Center is undergoing a change in leadership due to the resignation of current CEO/President Dr. Richard Becker. As noted in the Brooklyn Eagle, Becker quit to take a role as CEO of New Found Health, “a hospital and healthcare company affiliated with private equity firm Blue Wolf Capital Partners.”

Becker had been part of the Brooklyn Hospital team that worked with Blue Wolf last year in a failed bid to buy Long Island College Hospital, serving simultaneously as CEO of the joint project, called BHC Healthcare Group.

According to Crain’s New York:

Dr. Becker had been with Brooklyn Hospital for nearly seven years, joining it after the downtown Brooklyn institution emerged from bankruptcy. In addition to improving the hospital’s financial stability, Dr. Becker struck a recent deal to affiliate the institution with Mount Sinai Hospital instead of New York-Presbyterian.

A national search is reportedly underway to find Becker’s replacement.
