What is a community but a group of people with shared interests and/or backgrounds? Whether large or small, there is almost always strength in numbers. For Brooklyn’s pet owners and pet parents, Brooklyn For Pets hopes to be that larger community.

Formerly known as Park Slope For Pets, the group recently added new neighborhoods to their business reviews/ratings directory — including Fort Greene, as well as Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, and Williamsburg.

The site’s Do They Allow Pets? page is particularly useful, although it depends on residents posting the business listing and their experience bringing their pet there. The list of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill businesses that allow pets is pretty small right now, with only three listings (Cammareri Bakery & Cafe, Fort Grace, and Smooch) on there as of this post. We imagine that there will be even more pet-friendly businesses now that the Dining With Dogs bill has passed the New York State legislature. So start adding your business or favorite watering hole!

It turns out that Brooklyn For Pets is also a great resource not just for local business reviews regarding pet-friendliness, but as a means of collaboration around tips and tricks around pet care and other pet-needs.

For example, there’s an ongoing fundraiser through ResQwalk, an app that capitalizes on the popularity of logging fitness miles and translates that exercise into money for various Brooklyn animal rescue organizations.

There is also a Brooklyn For Pets blog with posts about seasonal pet health issues, allergies, grooming, and more; they continue to welcome contributions at info@brooklynforpets.com.
