Brooklyn Commune Owners Opening New Restaurant Next Door
Chef Chris Scott and wife Eugenie Woo, owners of Brooklyn Commune (601 Greenwood Avenue), are opening a new restaurant right next door called Butterfunk Kitchen at 1295 Prospect Avenue.
They say it will be a soul food-centric restaurant and that much of the inspiration comes from Chef Scott’s beloved home-cooked family recipes from his childhood, including fried chicken, ribs, and collard greens.
It’s the kind of food that pulls at your heart strings,” Woo told DNAinfo. “I think it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It will be a lively but welcoming and fun environment.”
The couple says that the new restaurant is slated to open its doors in early 2016 and will start with just dinner service. It will join recently opened The Prospector and The Fox & The Crepes down the block and an upcoming Italian restaurant across the street.
