An unspoken competition between neighbors broke out into a yearly tradition of adorning the neighborhood with massive holiday decorations. You can see light displays from 11th to 13th Avenues from 83rd to 86th Streets. Best to go after dusk.

Small Business Saturday Christmas Tree Lighting

November 30, Saturday

Celebrate the season with free hot chocolate, carolers, stilt walkers, and an appearance from Santa in a vintage car! JJ Byrne Park 5th Avenue and 4th Street at 6 p.m.

Light Up MetroTech

December 4, Wednesday

Head to MetroTech Commons on  from 5-6:30 PM for Light Up MetroTech, presented by Brookfield Properties. Celebrate the start of the holiday season with live ice carving, music, performances, holiday treats, and the lighting of the MetroTech tree with Santa. Free and open to all!

Dumbo Holiday Tree Lighting

The DUMBO Improvement District is thrilled to sponsor the 15th Annual DUMBO Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Festivities are from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with hot cocoa, caroling, and sweet treats at the Archway under Manhattan Bridge.

Sinterklaas – St. Nicholas Day & Tree Lighting

December 7, Saturday

Come meet Sinterklaas at the Wyckoff House Museum 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Enjoy a traditional concert by colonial balladeer Linda Russell. Children will enjoy a special visit from St. Nicholas as he arrives on horseback around 2:30 p.m. In the Dutch tradition, visitors can feed St. Nicholas’s faithful horse carrots and hay. Children are invited to sign the Red Book with St. Nicholas before he tells the traditional tale of The Bakers Dozen.

Lott House 300th Anniversary Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting

Get into the holiday spirit in a unique and festive way at the Hendrick I. Lott House tree lighting! The holiday celebration will include a tree lighting, kid-friendly games and crafts, a visit from SinterKlaas himself and performances from local Brooklyn school choirs: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Holiday Tree Lighting at Caroll Park

Join Friends of Carroll Park and the Court and Smith Street Business Associations for music, refreshments, and photo ops starting at 4:30.

Remarks from elected officials and community leaders will start at 5:00 p.m., followed by the arrival of a visitor from the North Pole, who will help with the flipping of the switch on our decor in the Court Street garden.

6th Annual Fort Greene Holiday Tree Lighting

December 8, Sunday

Gather with neighbors for the annual event that is full of holiday cheer, including: free hot cocoa, cider & cookies from local Myrtle Ave restaurants! Selfies with Santa! Toy drive collection. Bring new, unwrapped toys to support toy drives that serve local families. Live holiday music. Lighting of the tree at 4:45pm!

The lighting this year will take place at the northwest corner of Fort Greene Park, near the Myrtle Ave & St Edwards St entrance.
