WILLIAMSBURG – A corner building reminiscent of the iconic Flatiron Building—if a little shorter—will be headed to the heart of Williamsburg, renderings reveal.

The development will be at the 115 Broadway, where it meets South 6th Street at Bedford Avenue, just south of the Williamsburg Bridge.

The four-story development, which will have ground floor retail and office space on the upper floors, including a healthcare facility on the third floor, CityRealty reports. Plans also call for a rooftop bar.

The lot was purchased by Cayuga Capital Management in 2016 and the design is helmed by DXA Studio. Cayuga Capital is also developing another large site in north Williamsburg, at North 10th Street.

The current empty lot at 115 Broadway has provided space for a large, well-known mural dubbed “The Mona Lisa of Williamsburg” on an adjacent building, but it looks like the new construction will hide the multi-story artwork from the world.

The triangular ends at the curb, but a small public plaza extends into the street, which has seating and umbrellas for pedestrians to employ.

Permits have been filed for construction, but so far, the building process hasn’t begun. Expected completion for the new structure is set for 2020.
