Congratulations to BRIC, recipient of 19 New York Emmy Award nominations!

The nominations for the 60th Annual New York Emmy Awards were announced Thursday at the studios of CUNY-TV. BRIC TV, the Brooklyn-focused non-profit cable channel and digital network received 13 nominations while BRIC’s public access initiative, Brooklyn Free Speech, received 6 nominations.

“Telling compelling Brooklyn stories, and amplifying the voices of our Brooklyn neighbors, is central to BRIC’s mission,” BRIC’s President Leslie Schultz said in a statement. “BRIC TV plays an essential role in Brooklyn, covering important stories that mainstream media overlooks, and Brooklyn Free Speech TV celebrates creative expression by people who typically go unheard.”

BRIC TV is tied with WNET/Thirteen as the top-nominated nonprofit organization. The Awards will be presented on Saturday, May 6th at The Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
