UPDATE (6:40 p.m.): 1010Wins is reporting that five people are shot and at least two are in critical condition, they add that the shooting began on Brighton 7th Street.

We’ve just heard from multiple tipsters that shots were fired on the Brighton Beach section of the Riegelmann boardwalk, near Brighton 6th Street. The incident occurred betweeb 5:30 and 6:00 p,m.

We have not confirmed this yet, but one tipster says four people were shot. Their condition, the number of shooters, or whether or not they’ve been apprehended is not yet known.

NYPD officials are on the scene and have closed off that section of the boardwalk.
