Almost exactly a year ago Batata opened its doors on Fort Hamilton Parkway and began serving up delicious Middle Eastern dishes. We stopped by this week to grab some breakfast eats from their all day breakfast menue, but this isn’t the place to go for early morning eaters, the shop doesn’t open until 10am.

We are particularly fond of the Egg and Cheese Pita ($5). The pita is packed with eggs that are freshly scrambled with cheese. It’s a delicious and filling way to start the day, or the afternoon, since you can grab one any time of the day.

We are also always happy to have a good go-to place for a smoothie and the smoothies at Batata hit the spot. We love the Peanut Butter, Banana, and Cinnamon smoothie ($7). And we can’t wait to try some of the other combinations. The smoothies aren’t cheap but they are pretty delicious.

Have you tried any of the breakfast dishes at Batata? What do you think?

Batata is located at 3021 Fort Hamilton Parkway (between East 2nd and East 3rd Streets) and is open every day from 10am-9pm. They offer delivery for orders of at least $15, and delivery hours are from 12-9pm. You can reach Batata by calling 347-599-1260 or visiting their website and Facebook page.

  1. The egg and cheese malawach is great, and I think the kale salad is pretty delicious too. They’re just a little overpriced, and the food is really inconsistent from one trip to the next. The falafel is just okay—too salty and usually overcooked. Their brussels sprouts used to be a favorite but they changed the prep and now the sprouts are undercooked and kind of rubbery.

Also, pet peeve: If you own a restaurant, please don’t sit at the best table in the place all day long on your laptop. Let us try that corner seat!

  2. I love Batata, they bring a much needed tasty meal to the neighborhood. I have no problem with the owners working in their own restaurant. I appreciate the love and care they put into the place. Their falafel is delicious, I order it many times a week.

You get what you pay for in this town and a $7 falafel is fine by me.

Keep up the great work Batata.

  3. I love Batata! I am kind of addicted to their sweet potato fallalfel. The atmosphere is so super chilled and the owners are so friendly and make you feel like you are welcome at any time of day or night. I don’t think their smoothies are overpriced but I DO think they are delicious. Their salads are also sooooo good (when I am not enjoying my usual sweet potato treat!)

Thank you Batata for coming to our neighborhood.
