BPL Clears All Student Fines Today

BROOKLYN – Any young patron who has been unable to borrow books due to outstanding fines – here’s some good news.

All of the city’s public libraries, including Brooklyn Public Library, are forgiving all outstanding fines and fees on items borrowed and not returned in a one day amnesty to young readers. Today – if you are under 17 years old, your library card fines have been wiped automatically.

This does not mean that you can keep what you have borrowed – the fines will still accrue on items that are due to be returned after today.

If you are a High School students and over 18, you are still eligible but will need to visit the library in person where staff will waive fines on a case by case basis through November 2, 2017.

So hurry up! More questions? Check with the Library.
