PROSPECT HEIGHTS – In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11, the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library will unveil a pop-up exhibition Wednesday morning featuring artwork by Brooklyn veterans.

On view for ten days, the exhibition entitled I Am History will showcase ephemera as well as poster-sized collages, photographs, and fused glass pieces created by soldiers that focus on their experiences in the military, serving in conflicts from Korea to Iraq, and at home in Brooklyn.

BPL will also celebrate its recent acquisition of the digital archive of the Veteran Administrations Creative Art Program, a program held at the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System in Bay Ridge that helps veterans with self-expression, growth, and self-understanding.

Art Therapist Beryl Brenner and veterans will present at Wednesday’s exhibition opening to discuss the VA Creative Art Program, the creative process, and the artwork featured in the collection.
