BP Adams Leads Bike Tour In Honor Of Fallen Riders

Borough President Eric Adams led a two-mile bike tour through Park Slope and Clinton Hill Sunday to drum up support for safer streets after two bicyclists were killed this month.

The commemorative bike ride was in honor of a pair of fallen riders, Lauren Davis, 34, and  James Gregg, 33, and meant to draw attention to how Brooklyn should adapt to increased bicycle traffic.

“We’re so far behind on utilized alternative methods of transportation. It’s time for us to catch up. It’s time for us to get serious,” said Adams as reported by the Daily News.

Last Wednesday, Gregg was killed by a truck riding illegally on 6th ave in Prospect Heights. The week before, Davis was killed while going against traffic in Clinton Hill.

The NYPD has postulated that a wind force created by the truck led to Gregg being sucked under the rear wheel of the truck.

However, Paul Steely White, the executive director ofTransportation Alternatives, cast doubt on the police’s explanation while speaking to Gothamist.
