On an industrial Boro Park street just a few blocks from the 66th Precinct, one tipster claims a lot of shady business is going down.

“At 1534 62nd street, there is a ‘business’ by the name of TGI Furniture, since the beginning of the year it has slowly been doing construction to build a school with no permits, no notices, no anything,” we were told in an email from the anonymous complaintant. According to the email, construction is occurring late and night, and children are coming and going to the building at all hours Sundays through Thursdays, and making loud noises on the roof.

The four-story industrial property is being used as a school, according to the tipster, and is generating an overwhelming quantity of trash.

The property currently has a partial stop work order with civil penalties due, as well as 34 open violations, according to the Department of Buildings.

The police did not have any reports or complaints filed for the property. We will update if we hear back.

When we reached out to the applicant of record and the filing representative for a recent action filed for the property, we were told to leave a message. No one has yet gotten back to us, but we’ll update if we learn more.

UPDATE: A rep from Community Board 11 says the Board of Standards and Appeals approved an application for the warehouse back in October. The “special permit” allowed for the first, mezzanine, second, and third floors of the building to be used as a school. The building was also granted a temporary Certificate of Occupancy.
