Update: Man Found Dead In Water Off Brooklyn Navy Yard

A person was found floating in the water near the Brooklyn Navy Yard this morning, says the FDNY. Crews responded to a call at 50 Flushing Avenue (at North Portland Avenue) at 8:39am.

The FDNY says the case has been closed out, which usually means the victim is DOA. Preliminary reports say as much, although the FDNY cannot confirm the victim’s status or other details for sure.

Update 1:20pm: The NYPD confirms that the victim, a 58-year-old man, was deceased on scene. A full ID is pending notification of the man’s family.
